Singapore Architecture Photo

Peranakan Style Housing in Emerald Hill. At Perkanakan Place. Colours - Green, Red. Strong Diagonal of the green roof coming across the picture is interrupted by the downward line of the buildings decoratice exterior. Open windows hints that is it lived in and in  use. The Older style architecture is contrasted by the fresh paint and clean exterior. The detail in the green roof tiles and achitecture create interest and texture. Cropping of the house simplifies the complex and highly detailed subject and makes the viewer focus on roof tiles and the open slat windows.
I selectively coloured the bird and desaturated the background. I used curves to increase the contrast. The bird is in the centre of the thirds rule.

The points of interest is the bird. I like the look of the birds wings and their slight blurred movement.
The orange and blue creates contrast and stands out against the black and white background. The spiked shapes on the leaves create lines that draw the eye to the bird. There is an interesting contrast between the smooth, sharp geometic shapes of the leaves and the curved flowing softness of the dripping water. Natural Lighting - Mostly from the right above. Point of Interest - Bird created by the colour and lines shapes of the leaves. I crouched down to create an Eye Level shot. Blurred background - Short focal length done by large aperture (Large aperture because there was not lots of light and I wanted to reduce the amount of camera shake)

I'm A Real Artist

I like the photos of Keith Arnatt ( At the top of the screen)- A theory artist - Next to the artist is a philosophical text and he holds a droll slogan, "I'm a real artist". - This interests me and I ask myself am I an artist? What is an Artist? How does an artist function? Is photography Art? What is it worth?

We can copy it..... is it art?
Does art control what we photograph? Is there an Arty Subject matter?
